For those of us that suffer with anxiety attacks, we all know what it feels like. We get butterflies in our belly. We have hot and cold sweats. We worry and fret over everything and anything. Our heart pounds. Our throats go dry and we have trouble swallowing, just to name one or two.
We may have many anxiety in common, we also may have symptoms that vary significantly. This is why it is crucial to focus on us rather than some definition.
For this reason anxiety attack is so tough to spot. It's not like having a cold or other sickness, where the symptoms are typical and easy to make out and identify.
Anxiety attacks may occur out of the blue. I have spoken with a lot of people who have said 'my life is great; I don't know why I am suddenly suffering with anxiety attacks';. This is the character of amxiety. There isn't any specific format for anxiety attacks. With my personal experience of living with anxiety attacks, I am aware of the fact that the more you focus on the anxiety the deeper ingrained the symptoms become. It isn't till you actually become conscious of the fact that your own thoughts have created your anxiety, so it stands to reason that in case you have created the anxiety attack then surely you could UN-create the anxiety attacks. This part is actually hard for individuals to understand. And I know precisely how they think! When I was told this, I rejected it. Why would I want to do this to myself? It didn't make sense.
But at the end of the day no matter how much I tried to pay no attention to that fact, it was correct, my thoughts were the basis of my anxiety. I experimented with it. The more I targeted my energy on the anxiety the greater my anxiety attack became. So with the aid of a counselor, I was able to work on my thoughts and get over my anxiety.
I am not anxiety free, nevertheless I am able to prevent my anxiety before it turns into a full blown anxiety attack.
One more thing to bear in mind, is that anxiety could be unpleasant, but it isn't always an unpleasant thing. In fact, anxiety can help us stay alert and focused, spur us to motion, and provoke us to unravel problems.
