I’m attempting to try the DIY wedding invitations?

Yes, I 'm going to buy a box of 50 and invited to try before ordering a company! How I am is brave! Anyone have experience with DIY invites? Were they good, bad or just a pain in the a * s * s? Thank you!

ive done them, your not nearly as brave as I am though ;-) the reason i say that is we didn’t buy the kind you buy in the store, thats cakewalk (but you ARE saving money)

im into scrapbooking and my fiance and I made our own from scratch

I did my own invites. It was a pain, yes, but so much more rewarding and in my opinion that much more special. You can add “you” into them.

I’ve done mine with a box of silver lined paper with matching tissue that goes over them and ribbon. I think I got them from Staples. I printed out test sheets beforehand with the same paper size to get everything nice and even. Microsoft Word has templates to choose from that automatically position your words but my box had a template that I could download from their site that fit the paper perfectly without me having to search for one.
Last I saw, they came in silver or gold.

It’s not hard. You just need to practice on some plenty of plain paper before you waste the real cards. A laser printer makes the best copies. Just depends on how computer savvy you are. And you can always ask a friend to help you get them done. It sure can save some serious money.

I did my own and it was very simple. Just make sure you line it up correctly and do some test invitations and response cards before the real deal. I found it very simple to do. You just have to know how to feed them through the printer. It can take some time but it’s really not that big of a deal. I typed them, printed them, even used a special rubber stamp to put an ink stamp of a bride and groom on them, and addressed everything in a day (27 invitations and response cards). It didn’t take the whole day but it took awhile to address them by hand.

my niece did hers and they were very nice and creative. I think if you put thought and time into them, they will turn out nice.

I made mine. They really turned out great! (shimmer pink and shimmer cream metallic).

We saved a bunch of money when we made invitations for my daughters Fall wedding. We bought cardstock that had jagged edge look. Printed verse and pics that we wanted, and then folded. glued on a strip of ribbon and some fake fall leaves. We did the rsvp and reception details on coordinating pieces of fall colored cardstock. They turned out nicer than the store bought ones. We would have paid more than $200.00 but only cost us around $30.00. We also made our own save the date magnets. We bought business card size magnets, sold at office Max. They have a peel off sticker. WE printed business cards with info and a pic of the couple. Peeled off the sticker on the magnet and stuck on the business card. Beautiful

I personally am not doing my own invites (bc I’m having a themed Cinderella Wedding & having her on them would suck up too much ink–And I found my invites almost 50% off!;). But I did attempt to do favor tags and it was a pain in the A*S*… the paper kept shifting bc it’s never a perfect 8.5X11, I’m very computer savy to mind you! I think if you do consider doing this make sure you have a newer printer and brand spanking new ink. Best of luck–why not try?
