Personalized Candles?

Amanda posted:

I 'm looking for the personalized votive favors for the wedding. I really like the sail of a Yankee, but I'm looking for some alternatives. ? Anyone know of another comparable? To personalize the favors (tape, Tulle, tag) or offering kits so you can mount the same?

    Google it.
Try, “Personalized candles” or something. Then you can compare prices and what not when you have found some results.

There are tons of links for party favors on:.

you can just get plain votives and get personalized stickers on ebay and save a ton!

amanda its a lovely thought but we all have tons of candles and other little trinkets in our desk drawers at home. why don’t you consider giving a donation to your fave charity in lieu of favors. [if it helps, the donation is a income tax deduction]
then set up a large glass vase or bowl at the reception and whenever the guests want to see you two kiss instead of clinking their glasses they donate a dollar. we’re seeing this happen quite a bit in our area and you’d be surprised at how much fun the guests with it! the last wedding we were at the guests were throwing in fives, tens and twenties! it gives you two lots of chances to kiss each other, its gives charity a fair bit of money and your guests will think you are hero’s!
whatever you decide, good luck and happy wedding.

    start from scratch
    its CHEAP
    its more personal
you get exactly what you want
plus it means so much more
    if you want candles
melt a few cheap dollar store candles in a soup pan
and then experiment by pouring it in to molds or creating barriers
    for example
coat a piece of string in hot wax and let it dry
then hold it over a narrow glass so it hangs straight down the center
pour in a few ice cubes
then more the melted wax into the glass and let it dry, and allow the ice to melt
once the ice has melted you get this cool fun candle, pull it out and add it to an arrangement
or an extra touch ad ice cubes only to the bottom of the glass, when i cubes have melted
burn the names or initials of the guests or bride and groom in to the top
    use a more sophisticated font
you can even add odds and ends, create gift baskets, filled with decorative pieces flowers preserved goods
    anything
you can even mass produce a little statue with a prayer for the bride and groom on the side, tie a ribbon around it and a tag with the date and other relevant information about the wedding ceremony
i once recieved such a favor
it was simple but so beautiful
but it was factory made so it was perfect in its imperfections
and the allusion of personal sentiment was lost
if its hand made, no matter what it is, itll mean something
if you like stiching or knitting go ahead and hand out decorative pieces
if you wanna go to the EXTREME
    personalize each one
    your favors will be unforgettable
    people pay for apperance
it dosent need to have a practical use
    just superficial appeal
if you think it dosent meet your standards
    so what
it was personal and lovingly done
    thats enough
do it your self or have someone help you out
    its amazing fun
and it wont feel like work at all
    depending on its complexity
you should be able to do it on your free time
make at least one original carefully and take your time
if worst comes to worst you can pass around the original to your happy helpers and they can recreate it
if mabe if 10 people did 5 each
    thats fifty right there
    good luck

don’t get them personalized, i’m sorry but it’s a waste of money. unless they are very close friends/family they will all end up in the trash. who (besides close friends/family) wants a votive that says “john and jenny, 9-30-08″ sitting on their mantle or end table? no one. it’s a waste…get the candle, but skip the personalization.

I know exactly what you’re talking about! I did the same thing for my wedding. My favors were votives wrapped in tulle and tied off with ribbons with our names and wedding date on it. And I’m going insane because I can’t remember the website I bought them from for the life of me! Here is one site, though, that does have some really cute personalized candles:

And, yes, I did have a ton left over. However, the way we looked at it, where we live we get snowstorms and there’s always a chance of losing power. So the extra candles are nice to have. The extra ribbon I plan on using when I do our wedding scrap book. An the tulle I can find something to use it for! So if you want candles, do it!

I’ll keep looking and post the other site for you when I find it!

    Edit:

    Ah ha! Found them!
